On Saturday 28 May 2005, the Maid will welcome her 50,000th visitor on board since her restoration in 2001.
“This is a real milestone for us” said John Beveridge, Director of the Loch Lomond Steamship Company. “The Maid is proving very popular and our number of visitors is increasing year on year. This enables us to continue our planned programme of restoration work”.
The lucky 50,000th visitor will receive a DVD player donated by Robertsons Electrical Limited, and a meal for two voucher for Sunday Lunch on board the ship.
Gordon Russell, Robertsons Electrical Ltd Area Manager, will make the presentations. He said “Robertsons Electrical Ltd is delighted to be supporting the Maid, a local charity, in this significant event and we wish her continued success in the future”.
The Maid of the Loch opened in 2001 as a restaurant/ café/ bar and unique venue for events, weddings and corporate hospitality. There is a souvenir shop on board, and local history displays.
“This will be a great year for us”, added John. “We have our 50,000th visitor in May, we will complete our refurbishment of the old lower deck bar in July, and we will start the £600,000 rebuild of the Balloch Steam Slipway Complex this summer. Come and see us – there will be plenty going on!”
