LLSC currently has an application in with the Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA) to obtain their approval, in principle, for the refurbishment of the Maid and to find out how many passengers she will be allowed to carry in future. This is critical for our future plans for the Maid, and we hope to hear the outcome during the year.

In the meantime our 2008 targets on the Maid are to:-

Complete the refurbishment of the lower bar area

Paint the engine room, install new lighting, and to put the main engine back together again

Buy two new masts for the ship (sponsorship has been gratefully received from the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society for this)
